IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Hiram Award Committee has met and selected Brother David Isaac, P.M. as our Lodge Hiram recipient for 2005. Dave is certainly worthy of this esteemed honor and it will be my pleasure to present him the award with our Assistant Grand Lecturer Dale Armstrong. Dave has asked that no dinner or special night be set aside for this, and he would like the award to be presented to him at our November 8th stated meeting and quite naturally we will honor his request.
A REMINDER: Our November 8th stated meeting is also election night, the issuing of 50 year pins, and we will also be electing two representatives to server on the Temple Association Board. So your attendance is necessary and appreciated.
Our November 8th stated meeting dinner is Ladie's Night and will be prepared by Bro. Rich Mazzotta P.M. and his wife Rosanna. It is an Italian meal prepared by qualified experts and everything is made from scratch. This will be a meal to remember and if you miss it, you will regret it. Change: Dinner will be serverd at 6:00 p.m. - please note.

Summer Dinner Dance
The Dinner Dance for Summer 2005 was very successful. Everyone enjoyed the excellent barbeque steak (kudos to Brother Sam), music, the fun game and Karaoke :) - and Kudos to our hostesses Sun Smith and Terry Gentry. Also thanks to our WM, SW and JW for the superb organization of this special night. Hope you like the pictures below.

From The East
Brethren,
We did hold a double first degree on August 2nd. Congratulation to our newly obligated Brothers.
The family of our departed Worshipful Inspector Charles Hushbeck P.M. have asked that I convey their sincere appreciation for the many cards, calls and support of the membership during the illness and passing of Charlie. Also, their thanks for his wonderful memorial service at which over 250 persons were in attendance.
I would like to thank the Very Worshipful Hal Macy (our Grand Lecturer) and Brother Dale Amstrong (our Asst. Grand Lecturer) for presiding over Charlie's memorial.
I am sure Charlie appreciates as his family and 204 do, the outstanding color guard provided by the Defense Language Institude and we commend them for their professionalsim and Espirit de Corps.
Our annual dinner dance is on the 12th of August. Tickets are moving fast, so contact any officer or call Jean Bramman for reservations (details can be found below in the dinner dance announcement).
Fraternally, Dennis Smith P.M. Worshipful Master

From The East
Brethren,
June will be rather short of events at our Lodge as summer is in full swing and many of our brethren will be on vacation...
At our May stated meeting, we voted on two petitions and will be preparing to initiate new members this month. Our June 14th stated meeting will be our District Inspector's Official Visit and Flag Presentation. As this is the one time a year we allow our Inspector Bro Charles Hushbeck to come out of the kitchen or away from the organ, we need to have maximum attendance for his OV. The dinner will be roast chicken, mashed patatoes, and gravy and be prepared by our JW.
Our Lodge had the opportunity to sponsor five Naval Jr. ROTC Cadets from Alvarez High School on a cruise on a Navy ship this summer. Our SW received a standing ovation when he presented a $500.00 check to the Cadets at Alvarez HS. We felt that the support we receive from them was well worth the sponsorship.

Veteran's Day Dinner
Brethren,
May 20th was our annual Veteran's Day Dinner and Program. We invited several Soldiers, Sailors, Airman, and Marines to be our guests and tried to show our Masonic thanks to our service men and women. The presentation of the colors by the DLI Color Guards and the Alvares High School JROTC was impressive. The steak BBQ dinner was excellent - kudos to the BBQ/Kitchen crew and special thanks to those two young ladies who helped us serve our guests. And thanks to Brother Charlie for his special show (see the picture below).

3 Divisional Conference Was Held in Salinas
We hosted the 3 Divisional Conference in our Lodge during April 29th and 30th. The dinner on Friday night was outstanding. Officers of our Lodge also prepared and served breakfast and lunch on Saturday, which was the last day of the seminar. We received the following thank you letter from the 579th Masonic District Inspector:
"On behalf of the Grand Lecturer, the Assistant Grand Lecturers and the Inspectors of Divisions 1, 2 & 5 we want to express our thanks to you for the hospitality shown to us on our recent visit on April 29th & 30th. The dinner Friday night was outstanding, and appreciated by all. It was a pleasure having our meeting in Salinas and a chance to meet you."
Thank you (and Kudos) to all Brothers who helped during the Conference dinner, breakfast and lunch.

From The East
Brethren,
As promised, our April Trestleboard is a report on our trip to Hiram Lodge #12 in the Czech Republic and several other social / fraternal items.
On Jan. 18th Brothers Sam, Rudy, and I arrived (without accident) at the Prague airport and were met by my adopted brother Michael and his wife Sasha. We dropped our bags and were off to dinner and (Pivo) beer. At about 10:00 a.m., Sam and Rudy came up to the office and had breakfast (prepared by our secretary Petra) and Sam began arranging for our visit to Hiram 12's stated meeting on the 20th.
We were instructed that we would meet in a restaurant next door to the lodge offices by the Senior Warden at 7:00 p.m. We arrived at the restaurant and felt like spies sitting in the back of the restaurant looking for someone who looked Masonic. At 7:00 p.m. Brother Zapp (who is also the Depury Grand Master) arrived, introductions were made and we went to Hiram 12's office, presented our letter of introduction and were informed that there would not be a stated meeting. Instead there would be a first degree practice. The other officers arrived, were introduced and Bro.Sam was selected as the stand-in candidate. The practice (very different from ours) went fine and was followed by a short business meeting, adjourned and we went back to the restaurant for more food. Hiram 12 is an English-speeking lodge composed of primarily British and Australian businessmen although The Right Worshipful Bro. Zapp, P.M. is from the Netherlands.
We were invited to affiliate with Hiram 12 and the paperwork is now in the process through Grand Lodge of both countries. Masonic gifts were exchanged and Sam invited the Brethren to visit and possibly affiliate with 204 and they agreed. We are now planning our next visit to prague hopefully in the spring.
The following Monday we met with our Scottish Rite brethren and we were impressed by their devotion to our fraternity. One of the brothers was 89 years old and had been a resistance fighter against both the Nazis and Communists and had many stories to tell. We learned that Masonry is different in other nations but three things are unchanged worldwide. They are Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.
